General Information

  • Upon installing MadCap Doc-To-Help 5, there will no longer be a Desktop shortcut. To begin, simply open an existing Doc-To-Help project or open Microsoft Word directly and navigate to the File > Doc-To-Help tab.

  • Doc-To-Help is now fully integrated with Microsoft Word.

  • Added support for TFS 2015, TFS 2017, and Visual Studio Online

  • Upgraded NetHelp CSS to jQuery UI 1.12.1

  • Additional Preinstalled Samples of JQuery UI Style sheets

Ribbons added and updated to Microsoft Word

  • Doc-To-Help tab

    • This ribbon provides the ability to add and edit topics, insert headings, modify styles, add links, and glossary terms

  • Target tab

    • Targets can be added, built, and published within this ribbon

  • Project tab

    • Project settings can be modified in this ribbon.

    • Apply attributes and styles to the Doc-To-Help project

    • Project Panel (Project > Project Panel)

      • This panel expands from the left and allows you to add or edit Documents, Content, Index and Groups, Variables and Related Topics

Translation Services

  • Translation service is removed in this version

Sandcastle Plug-in

  • Sandcastle plug-in documents are no longer supported and will be removed during project upgrade

Conversions

  • Doc-To-Help 2000, RoboHelp for Word, and WinHelp converters are removed in this version

Document Properties Dialog

  • "Basic" properties group is hidden for Word documents
  • Removed "Plugin folder(s)" property.

  • Removed "Language for translation" property.

Doc-To-Help Options Dialog

  • Removed "Startup options" group from General tab.

  • Removed "Color scheme" properties group from General tab.

  • Removed "Confirm making a copy of document with Save As" check box from General tab.

  • Removed "Synchronize all shared documents with Library when project is opened" check box from SharePoint tab.

  • Removed "Synchronize all shared documents with Library when project is closed" check box from SharePoint tab.

  • Removed "Translation" properties group from SharePoint tab.

Doc-To-Help Ribbon

  • Removed "Convert" menu from File tab.

  • Removed "Plugins" group from Project tab.

  • Removed "Translate" command from "SharePoint" group on Home tab.
