Article #:GEN1017D | Product: Doc-To-Help | Version: 6 |
Full Description:
Nethelp Targets are failing to build with the most current update of Word (Word 2208, Build 16.0.15601.20148)
The current solution is to revert to Word version 2205 (Build 15225.20422) or before.
Please see the link below for more details on how to revert to a previous version of Word:
Before you begin:
- Please download the Office Deployment tool by following this link:Office Deployment Tool. Once that has downloaded, open it and save the files to your machine. You can save this anywhere you want, but you will need to navigate to this path later.
- Depending on your needs, you may want to set a reminder to enable automatic updates later.
- Open Notepad and copy the following XML. Then, name the file Config.xml and save it in the same file location as the Setup.exe.
<Configuration>
<Updates Enabled="TRUE" TargetVersion="16.0.15225.20422" />
</Configuration>Note:In the XML, 16.0.xxxxx.yyyyy represents the full version number that you noted in the 'Before you begin' section. For version 2205 this would be 16.0.15225.20422. If you are reverting to a different version, please follow this link for all Update History to get the full version number:Update history for Microsoft 365 Apps for enterprise (listed by date)
Installing the previous version of Word:
- Run a Command Prompt window as administrator and navigate to the path where you saved the setup.exe and config.xml files
- Run >setup.exe /configure config.xml and click enter. This will run for a short time and then close itself.
- Once closed, reopen Word.
- Navigate to File>Account. In the Product Information section, select Update Options>Update Now.
Note:If you are prompted to activate Office again, enter your Microsoft account and password. This step does not add your computer to your account a second time.
It is normal for it to look like nothing is happening during this step. - Disable automatic updates:
- File > Office Account
- Under Produce Information, click Update Options and then Click Disable Updates
- Restart your machine and the updates will be applied.
