Converting Doc-To-Help HTML content to Microsoft® Word™
Article #: GEN1005D | Product: Doc-To-Help | Version: 3 |
Summary:
How to convert existing HTML content in Doc-To-Help 3 to Microsoft® Word™ documents.
Full Description:
In an effort to improve workflows, and remove reported conflicts and reduce complexities of combined Word™ and HTML authoring, the HTML editor functionality has been removed from this latest release of Doc-to-Help. Doc-to-Help’s strength and focus is authoring in Microsoft® Word™.
All existing HTML project files will continue to generate in your outputs without issue. You can continue to edit your HTML content outside of Doc-To-Help, however, it is recommended that you convert your content to a Word™ document within the Doc-To-Help project for future editing and compatibility moving forward.
Solution:
To convert your HTML project files to Microsoft® Word™, you should open them in an HTML Editor or an Internet Browser, Copy the content, and Paste it into a new Doc-To-Help Word Document. It is recommended that you back up the entire project to another location before proceeding.
- Open Doc-To-Help and create a new MS Word document to replace your HTML document
- Open the HTML file in an HTML Editor or Internet Browser
- Either Browse to your project folder and open the files in the HTML Editor or drag the file into the Browser window
- Copy the content of the file to the clipboard
- In Doc-To-Help, open the new document that is to replace the HTML files and paste the content
Note - there may be additional clean up involved in the process. Please do not hesitate to contact MadCap Support for assistance.
If you prefer to continue to edit in HTML vs Microsoft® Word™, please contact MadCap Sales for suggestions and upgrade paths to MadCap Flare.
