TLS Upgrade Notification - What You Need to Know

Article #: GEN1033Z  Product: MadCap Flare Online   Version: All

On October 31 2020, MadCap Flare Online will no longer support SSL, TLS 1.0 or TLS 1.1 over HTTPS which means:

  1. Older browsers that do not support TLS 1.2 (See list below) will not be able to view websites hosted on MadCap Flare Online and
  2. MadCap Flare (2017.x) which does not support TLS 1.2 will no longer be able to connect to MadCap Flare Online after this date.

This change is in recognition of website security best practices. It has also been mandated by the PCI Security Council for all merchants and service providers processing or transmitting credit card and sensitive data, so you may already have implemented these changes at your company.

We wanted to give you as much notice as possible in the event your IT team needs to upgrade browsers or upgrade Flare 2017.x, if required. MadCap Flare 2018.x and newer support TLS 1.2 and will not be affected by this update.

Browser Support

The following browsers DO NOT support TLS 1.2.

  • Google Chrome 29
  • Firefox 26
  • Internet Explorer 10
  • Safari 8
  • iOS 4
  • Android 4
